Introduction to Return-to-Work Coordination (2 days) (WCO6535)
Employers in NSW employing more than 20 workers or with a basic premium exceeding $50,000 are required by law to nominate a trained Return-to-Work Coordinator.

Ensure your business complies with NSW legislation. This WorkCover program provides an overview of key players, injured worker entitlements and how to implement effective communication strategies with Agents.

Advanced RTW Coordination (1 day) (WCO6551)

Recommended approximately 6 month after completing the introductory RTW Coordination program.

Delivering the ‘next level’ in management skills for managing complex injured worker cases. The Advanced RTW coordinator program is an interactive course with a focus on achieving RTW outcomes where progress has been interrupted by disputes or other barriers.

Better Claims Management

Return to Work for Supervisors (1 day)

Recommended for Supervisors, Team Leaders, Line Managers

Supervisors will gain skills in the development of suitable duty options, implementation and monitoring of RTW plans and key player communication. Outcomes of successful RTW management include; improved productivity, durable RTW outcomes and improved workplace culture. Program includes practical advice to provide a supportive workplace that encourages safe work practices & early reporting of injuries.

Understanding & Managing Psychological Injuries (1 day)

Recommended for Managers, RTW Coordinators, Case Managers

This intensive program focuses on prevention, early intervention and effective management of psychological compensation claims. All participants gain valuable insights into how employers may contribute to the exacerbation, aggravation or acceleration of a condition that may be deemed compensable under current Workers Compensation legislation.

Identifying Risks at Work - Workplace Risk Assessments (1day) (E)

Recommended for senior manager, line managers, HR/OHS personnel or as an overall risk management tool for employees

The OH&S Regulation 2001 states all employers must use a risk management approach to address workplace health and safety. Effective risk management planning enables you to enhance safety, minimise lawsuits, meet regulatory compliance standards and make better business decisions. The scheduled program will provide advice on a practical, systematic and focused approach to compliance achievement. This program may also be tailored specifically to your business (variable fee applicable).

Manual Handling Training - Competency Based (Approximately 2hr) (E)

Experienced Allied Health professionals focus on specific work practices. Training is tailored to specific work sites and delivers practical, readily transferable skills. The initial program fee includes an onsite workplace assessment and individual program development.

Workplace Adjustment Set-Up & Design

Stop hurting yourself and others at work! Tailored assessments by allied health professionals identify the areas that are within an employers and employees control, incorporating the importance of sound housekeeping, practical work station layout and strategies to prevent and/or minimise injuries in the workplace. This program is designed for individual employees or for teams working in the same environment.

Introduction to Core Stability Training (2hr)

Recommended for all employees

Employees completing this program will; understand that protection from spinal injury will be achieved through more effective positioning of the vertebrae, begin to maintain better balance, improve posture which eliminates some types of chronic back and neck discomfort, be able to lift correctly with more confidence and offer greater resistance to injury from sudden strain or impact. Delivery includes formal presentation, exercise based discussion, practical demonstrations and assessment of safe and correct exercise procedure.

Sharps Training (1 hour)

Recommended for all staff at risk of a sharps injury or contact with human bodily fluids, especially cleaners and ground staff.

The program discusses risks from handling sharps, developing skills to safely handle sharps, gain knowledge of infections which are transmitted by sharps, first aid for sharps injuries, the correct methods of disposal of sharps and how to deal with injuries, from a psychological and physical perspective.

Manage Your Workers Compensation Premium (1day)

Recommended for experienced RTW Coordinators or those with direct responsibility for Workers Compensation premium control.

Basic tariffs are set for all employers in NSW on an annual basis. Rates are set using classifications that reflect ‘risk’ within a specific industry. This program aims to provide an understanding of rate “cost drivers” and the opportunities for improved claims performance and, ultimately, reduced premiums. This program delivers clear, workable strategies to assist in achieving overall premium control.

People Development

The Competent Manager (1 day)

Recommended for Supervisory & Junior Management Personnel

It is common for excellent operators or team members to be promoted directly from the “shop floor” into supervisory or junior management positions. Unfortunately, they often struggle with the demands created by the change in roles and expectations because they do not have the necessary skills to be successful. This program aims to provide managers with an understanding of effective leadership behaviours, including communication skills, establishing and maintaining morale and risk management.

Participants will learn about their own characteristics and develop an awareness of how their behaviour impacts on team performance. The program provides participants with the tools to manage and to modify their own behaviour, reactions and management style. This creates more effective behaviour and increases flexibility in management style, which as been proven to improve team climate, increase overall performance and reduce other staff problems.

Communication Skills & Assertiveness (1 day)

Recommended for all Senior, Middle and Line Managers, HR and Customer Service Personnel

How to say NO nicely and mean it. Participants learn the communication skills necessary for day to day management of staff, dealing with unhappy customers, managing complaints and using effective listening techniques to resolve issues before they become conflicts. This workshop includes both theory and practical components in a fun filled atmosphere.

Stress Management (4 Hours)

Stress related illness and psychological claims are on the increase within the workforce and may relate to demands of the job, unrealistic work expectations, bullying, harassment or violence in the workplace or an unsafe work culture. This program investigates the dangers of continued stress, how stress affects others in the workplace and provides tools for dealing with and reducing stress. The program emphasises that "Emotions are Normal" and provides tools to better handle emotions and to deal with conflict, a major contributor to increased levels of stress.

Fit For Life - Fit For Work

Alcohol & Drugs in the Workplace (2 hours)

Recommended for all workers

This program identifies problems of addiction from cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs and discusses the risks involved in drug-taking and other unhealthy lifestyles when they impact on the work environment. The program explains methods to identify common drugs used by members of society and their harmful effects. It lists ways of positively encouraging staff to be responsible for their own actions at work and to comply with AOD policies. The program also discusses lifestyle problems such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity often associated with such addictions. At the completion of the training attendees will also have a working knowledge of; methods to reduce alcohol intake, the danger of drug taking lifestyles, risks of being overweight and lack of exercise, strategies to quit smoking and the importance of a regular exercise program.

Healthy Lifestyles: Fit for Life – Fit for Work (1 day) (E)

Recommended for all workers

This program provides participants with insights into the basic anatomy and physiology of their own body, highlighting lifestyle risks including heart conditions, obesity, high blood pressure, lack of exercise and poor diet. Included are strategies for controlling or reducing risks of diabetes, lowering stress levels, healthy heart, cancer detection, exercise, diet and controlling cholesterol. This program is most successful when tailored to the specific needs of a workplace. Assessment criteria include; workforce demographics such age, sex, racial & cultural mix, as well as issues such as blue collar/white collar environments.

Men’s Health Issues (Approximately 1 day) (E)

Recommended for all men, but especially those in a predominantly male working environment

A unique program designed to inform men about the risks of being men. Statistics show that men are 50% less inclined to seek medical help or advice when symptoms present. This program raises awareness of problems caused by obesity and diet, lack of exercise, smoking and alcohol, stress, drugs – both legal and “recreational”, heart conditions and increased blood pressure and suicide. The program also looks at preventive checks men should undertake including, breast and testicular cancers, enlarged prostate and skin cancers.

This program is most successful when tailored to the specific needs of a workplace. Assessment criteria include; workforce demographics such age, sex, racial & cultural mix, as well as issues such as blue collar/white collar environments.

 


 

The following training programs are delivered by Insight Workplace Training in conjunction with The Morrissey Group Pty Ltd (RTO - National Provider Number 30929).

Apply First Aid (1 day)

First Aid Certificates must be updated every 3 years. It is recommended that CPR training be refreshed every 12 months.

The First Aid Training Package covers all elements of the National Training Qualification. The course is nationally recognised and aligned to the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF). The course includes three modules: (i) Provide basic emergency life support, (ii) Apply First Aid, (iii) Perform CPR.

All graduates receive a Senior First Aid Certificate.

Drug and Alcohol Screening (1 day)

Developed in consultation with industry this training course was designed to meet the 2008 requirements under Standards Australia for Drug and Alcohol Screening procedures. On completion students will qualify as an accredited “Collector” or “Collector and Technician” under the 2008 Australian and New Zealand Standards. The course qualification is valid throughout Australia.

From March 2008 in order to comply with Australian Standards “Collectors” and “Testers” are required to possess a Certificate of Attainment in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework. This training program will ensure participants meet the following Australian/New Zealand Standards qualification guidelines:

  • AS/NZ 4308:2008P – Procedures for specimen collection and the detection and quantitation of drugs of abuse in urine.
  • AS/ 4760-2006 – Procedures for specimen collection and detection, and the detection and quantitation of drugs in oral fluid.

On completion of the training participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment in:

  • Perform Drug and Alcohol Sample Screening
  • Course in Drug and Alcohol Screening

HR Support

Behavioural Interviewing & Selection (1day) (E)

Recommended for Senior & Middle Management & HR Personnel

Poor selection and staff employment practices cost employers and employees alike in dollars and emotional costs. Good employment decisions can have a significant and immediately positive impact on organisational success. Using the best research, you will understand what behaviours predict on-the-job success, how to build competencies into selection and appraisal and the best practices in applied interviewing skills. This is an interactive day!

Workplace_ObligationsConflict Resolution (1 day) (E)

Recommended for all Senior, Middle and Line Managers, HR and Customer Service Personnel

This intensive workplace is structured to provide participants with the necessary skills to facilitate an outcome between multiple parties.

At the conclusion of training participants will be able to plan and set up simple conflict resolution sessions, apply effective negotiation skills and have the ability to identify and manage conflict between staff.

Harassment & Bullying In The Workplace (1day) (E)

Recommended for all Senior, Middle and Line Managers, HR and Customer Service Personnel

Designed to facilitate prevention, identification, management & control of workplace harassment and bullying. This program provides participants with strategic skills to understand the drivers, both personal and organisational, for both perpetrators and victims. The program identifies prevention guidelines and remedies that can be applied from the top down to the shop floor.
